We have imagined many scenarios and we have witnessed many scenes. We have seen lots of frustrations in schools - nursery, primary, junior secondary and senior secondary - as school management struggle to collect, collate, interpret and administer students' records error-free. We have seen files disappear just when they are needed most. We have seen files reappear without the relevant information and original documents. We have seen documents doctored to suit personal, corporate, political and sundry needs. We have seen and imagined scenarios where documents are burnt in arson or accidents, and schools are left to guess-fill their registers afresh.  We have seen cases where arguments are raised to high havens about paid and unpaid school fees - by worried parents, anxious students, and flustered school management. We have heard political rhetoric of who attended what institutions, and when and what grades (if any) were scored by such persons. We had wondered if solutions existed for all these problems.

We have imagined a situation where a parent wishes to know just how his/her ward is doing and just by a click of a computer mouse all possible information about his ward stare him in the face on a computer monitor, or even a graphical representation of the progress is printed in hardcopy for the parent. We have imagined the Federal or State Ministry of Education wishing to know the graphical representation of the school's exams records; students' population; the distribution of such students' population by age, sex, etc. and the school management brings these out by a click of the computer mouse. We have imagined a situation where due to arson or plain accident, the Students' Record and Examination department is razed down and the next minute a backup is reproduced by a click of the mouse, and the department suffers absolutely no lag phase, and information is fully secured and untouched. We have imagined the school wishing to know the academic progress of the school, each student, each class, and each class arm, and just one click after a histogram is colourfully displayed on the PC screen for the school to savour.
